Introduction

The legendary OSWP! The one that is harder than OSEE!! Some jokes that I hear about the OSWP due to the easiness and its outdated contents. On June 16th, Offensive Security announced that they will retire their wireless networking security course (PEN-210) a.k.a WiFu on July 20th, 2021. As there is no information about the successor yet, and at the same time I got extra money from the private bug bounty that was invited by my friend, I decided to spend the extra money on this course. I did hear a lot of things about the course such as how outdated the content, how old the required hardware is, etc., but learning something old is better than not learning at all, I guess.

Course

As the course didn't come with the lab, we are only given the course materials consisting of PDF and Videos. The first half of the course material are covering the theory and the other half will cover all the techniques to attack the wireless network that focuses on WEP. In the beginning, I plan to read through the PDF and videos within a week and later scheduled the exam for it. However, after 1-2 days, I somehow lost my interest and distracted by the EXP-301 (OSED) course (I will blog about this as well on separate article). I ended up postponing the exam and scheduled it on the last available slot which is 13/14 November 2021. As there is no lab provided by the course, we are expected to use our own hardware to build our own lab and learn the attack techniques on the course. The required hardware is old and a bit hard to find in my place. Fortunately, one of my friend that has passed the exam lend me his devices.

Exam

I scheduled my exam for November 14th at 03:00 AM SGT. As with other Offensive Security exams, an email containing the exam objectives and the details will be provided. The exam is straightforward and reflects all the techniques taught in the course. It is a 4-hour exam with 24 hours of exam reporting. I finish the exam within the first 2 hours and sent my report on the same day. The next day, November 15th, the exam result is out.

Conclusion

It's an entry-level course and can be a good introduction to learn wireless network security. The material is outdated and I am glad that Offensive Security retiring it and will come up with the successor which I might take in the future.
